To Deliciousness and Beyond Cookbook Review
To Deliciousness and Beyond by Jenna Miller
I love being part of engaged group of cookbook lovers on social media. It’s given me the chance to meet a variety of people who each come to the table with their own brand of cookbook obsession. That’s how I came to meet Jenna Miller (@measureandpour on Instagram). Me—I’m a collector and avid home cook. Jenna—a trained baker and cookbook author.
About The Cookbook
Jenna humbly calls herself a home baker but is formally trained in a pastry. She introduced me to her charming book which she self-published with the help of a Kickstarter campaign in 2018.
To Deliciousness and Beyond is a nicely focused book featuring 50 recipes in the dessert, beverage, and bread categories. While most recipes tend toward the sweet, there are a handful of crave-able treats for the savory lovers among us. I gravitated toward the Croque Monsieur Stuffed Pretzels (p. 82) and the Cran-Orange Shortbread Cookies (p. 108) both of which I shared with my family on Christmas day. They were incredibly impressed that I made pretzels from scratch and even more impressed by how delicious they were. Jenna has graciously shared her Croque Monsieur Stuffed Pretzel recipe for you to try!

What I Loved About This Book
Jenna provides a solid mix of classic recipes and totally original baked goods. Think: Sugar Cookies and Classic Brownies alongside more unusual recipes like Baklava Inspired Bread, and Crème Brûlée French Toast Cake. Jenna’s military spouse life means moving from place to place on a near annual basis and you can see the inspiration in her recipes like the Apple Pie Streusel Bread and Cannoli Ice Cream, seemingly inspired from her time in Europe.
Photos accompany every recipe and are very well written, directions are clear and thorough without being overly fussy. I felt like Jenna gave me the perfect guidance in the recipes I tried.
Jenna understands the cooking life of a busy mom and is versed the flavors that will appeal to both young and adults alike. The flavors are crowd-pleasers that will appeal to most eaters.
Flipping through it is absolutely clear this book is a labor of love, the final pages filled with personal photos of Jenna cooking with her son Asher and other family portraits.
I was delighted by her book and I hope you’ll support Jenna and her dream of being a cookbook writer as a career. Check out her book on Amazon and Blurb.com, you can also follow Jenna on Instagram or check out her website (JennasDeliciousCreations.com) which she updates regularly with new original recipes.
